Your cleanup was sent. We check every upload and publish it on sapu.earth, usually within a few days.
Once it is on sapu.earth, you can share it from YOUR MISSIONS below.
YOUR MISSIONS
YOUR CLEANUPS
How we handle your photos and details
- Who: Sapu Earth is run by Marcus Pousette in Innsbruck, Austria. Contact: hello@sapu.earth.
- What you send: photos and videos (they may show people), the date, the place and the country, the exact location if you tap Use my location now, the numbers (kg, sacks, crew size, hours, costs and pay), where the trash went, your notes and your message to Sapu Earth. For a mission also your plan, the day and the price.
- What is public: once we approve a cleanup, it is a public receipt on sapu.earth with everything you sent, except your message to Sapu Earth and the exact location. The location is shown rounded to about 100 m. The receipt also shows your crew's name, website and page, and what Sapu Earth paid. A mission is public in the same way once we publish or fund it.
- Marketing: we also use your photos and videos, edited or as they are, to promote Sapu Earth, for example in posts, videos and ads on social media and other websites, and in print. We may name your crew and the place with them. Social networks also process what we post there, under their own rules.
- What stays private: your message to Sapu Earth, the exact location, and everything we have not approved or published. Only the Sapu Earth team sees them.
- On your phone: photos are saved again as JPEG on your phone. This removes the camera data, including the location, before they are sent. The page also tries to remove the location and the phone brand and model from MP4 and MOV videos. WebM videos are sent as they are. Until you send, what you typed and picked stays on this phone, so nothing is lost if the page reloads. After a successful send it is deleted from the phone. The phone also remembers your language and whether you saved this link.
- Why: to check your cleanups and missions, to decide what we fund, to pay your crew, to show your work on sapu.earth so anyone can see where the money goes, and to promote Sapu Earth. Legal basis: our agreement to fund your crew's cleanups (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), the consent of everyone shown in the photos and videos (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), and our legitimate interest in public receipts and in making Sapu Earth known (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Without the photos and the numbers we cannot fund or show a cleanup.
- Where: on Cloudflare servers (database and file storage), which may be outside the EU. Cloudflare stores them for us as our processor. It is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and uses the EU standard contractual clauses for other countries. This page loads all its files, fonts included, from sapu.earth.
- How long: photos and videos you upload but never send are deleted after 48 hours. Approved cleanups stay on sapu.earth as public receipts, also after we stop working together. If we don't approve a cleanup, or take it off the site later, we delete its photos and videos. A mission nobody funds is removed after 28 days waiting for us, or after 28 days on sapu.earth. When a mission is removed for any reason, for example because you withdraw it, its photos, your message and its exact location are deleted. 90 days after we decide on a cleanup, or after a mission is done, we delete your message to Sapu Earth and round the exact location to about 100 m. We keep the rest, such as places, dates and numbers, as our record for as long as Sapu Earth runs.
- Your rights: ask to see, correct or delete your details, withdraw a consent, or object to how we use them, by emailing hello@sapu.earth. Anyone shown in a photo or video can ask us the same way to take it down. We then stop using it and remove it where we can. You can also complain to the Austrian data protection authority (dsb.gv.at).
